Under Apple’s new iOS 8 TouchID still can be circumvented with cheap tricks, as shown in the video below. Yet, this gets more importance under iOS 8 as the new operating system allows both third parties to use TouchID as a security integration component and Apple’s payment services which will rely on approval for payments on consent via TouchID. Moreover, as the sensor can be tricked into establishing the ID without a real fingerprint, the vulnerability remains so high that relying on good old PIN’s may be the best choice for now.
